Rock Band

Our CMC Rock Band Course is a weekly 60 minute session where guitar, bass, keyboard and drum students come together and learn to play songs by their favourite bands: Metric, The Beatles, Coldplay, The White Stripes…etc. Playing in a group with other students in addition to your private lessons improves your ear training, reading, writing, timing, and playing abilities while having FUN.

Besides performing at our winter and spring CMC recitals, rock band students usually have additional performance opportunities in our community for events such as our CMC benefit concert and the annual Roncy Rocks festival. This is your chance to ROCK out with your friends, classmates and other CMC students! Non CMC students will be auditioned for placement level.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a prerequisite of 2 years private lessons experience (or ability) on your instrument before joining this class.

What also is required:

  • a keen co-operative attitude & maturity level to work well with others
  • a high commitment level to the group, and
  • continuing private on-one-on lessons to improve your own playing skills.

Maximum 5 students per group.

Students MUST be committed for the full year out of respect for their rock band classmates.

Our rock band teacher is Matt Elwood.
