PETITION:
Demand the RCM Toronto conduct an Independent Investigation into Sexual Abuse
Dear everyone:
One of the main reasons I started the Classical Music Conservatory in 1997 was because I was personally sexually abused at the RCM (as you would know from being part of CMC and how we operate, which includes having a camera and a clear, large window in every studio for everyone’s safety). As you can imagine, this is not something I talked about before now, as it’s not really a happy topic. However, it has been our mission to DO BETTER and CARE for our students in every way that we can since the beginning of CMC and that is who we are and will continue to be.
I went public about my abuse at the RCM in a Toronto Star article on February 7th of this year. Since that time, I have yet to hear back from the RCM in response to the article. On the other hand, I have heard from other survivors who were also abused at the RCM.
I simply cannot let the systemic abuse of children and women continue, and as part of that, I have started a petition with the support of many. The petition demands that the RCM conduct an independent investigation into sexual abuse at its institution.
The petition is now LIVE – click HERE.
If you haven’t already done so, please kindly both of you sign and share, if you are willing to do so. Thank you SO much!!
