Described as being « utterly impressive » in displaying « superb playing » by Montreal based e-
magazine Arts and Opinion, Chinese-Canadian pianist Qiao Yi Miao Mu started her career with
her debut of Chopin’s Piano Concerto no.1 at age thirteen. At eighteen, she made her Carnegie
Hall debut in a concert presented by the Behre Piano Associates. Her performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto no.1 with l’Orchestre Symphonique du Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal and its conductor maestro Raffi Armenian was noticed by La Presse (Montreal, 2011) for her great pianistic skills.
An active soloist and chamber musician, Ms. Miao Mu formed the Chu-Yi Duo with violinist Hua-Chu Huang in 2016 and became the winners of the 2017 GGS Chamber Competition, which led them to a Koerner Hall debut alongside The Montrose Trio.
In past seasons, Ms. Miao Mu was invited to perform the « Trout » Piano Quintet at the Bourgie
Hall of the Montreal Beaux-Arts Museum in October 2015, as part of their « Jeunes et Pro » concert series. Festival credits include the Montréal Chamber Music Festival, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Orford Arts Centre, and the Festival du Domaine Forget. These engagements allowed her to perform alongside internationally acclaimed artists such as the Fine Arts Quartet, Inon Barnatan, Paul Merkelo, Peter Wiley, Christopher Costanza, David Hetherrington, Paul Coletti and Martin Beaver.
Qiao Yi received her Bachelor’s and Masters’s Degrees in Music at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, under the tutelage of André Laplante. She recently received an Artist
