Kate Unrau - Violin

Kate Unrau is a versatile violinist who is excited by diverse performance opportunities. Comfortable as a soloist, she has performed concertos by Alfred Schnittke, John Weinzweig, and others. Kate is most often found playing with one of Ontario's professional orchestras or in a musical theatre pit, performing regularly with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, with the Esprit Orchestra, and for assorted Mirvish productions.

Kate particularly enjoys popular music projects. Some of her favourite appearances have been with artists such as David Foster, Marvin Hamlisch, Herbie Hancock, Hugh Jackman, Paul Anka, and Mary J Blige.

As a teacher, Kate has worked with students from ages 4 to 74, teaching both private and group lessons to beginners and advanced students alike. Her lively teaching style is meant to engage students and make learning fun.

Kate has a master's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Toronto, and she held the Principal Second Violin position with the Kingston Symphony for over a decade.
