Irena Josipovic - Violin, Viola

Irena Josipovic, B. Mus (University of Toronto), Violin Performance (Conservatory of Parma, Italy) violin, viola, piano Irena began studying violin at the age of five at the Vatroslav Lisinski Music School in Zagreb, Croatia. Upon arrival to Canada, she continued to study violin privately with Ninel Bard and Alec Hou in Mississauga and Heratch Manoukian in Toronto, playing in Mississauga and Toronto Youth Orchestras as well as performing at various festivals. 

Irena was a Royal Conservatory of Music student, earning a silver medal for her grade 10 exam in 1996, and went on to study with Jacques Israelievitch, concert master of TSO, at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. 

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of Toronto and a Violin Performance Degree from the Conservatory of Parma, Italy. In Italy, she performed with the Opera Orchestra of Teatro Reggio and she has been a member of various ensembles and orchestras throughout the GTA. Irena has also been a TDSB music strings teacher for the past six years, and has been teaching privately and performing with Opera Bel Canto and ensemble Ayekan.
