Catherine Hume: Gleesical Artistic Director

Catherine Hume (Artistic Director) joined the Gleesical program in March of 2016. After completing a teaching degree, Catherine went galloping madly off in a number of directions. Her varied and eclectic interests have led to stints as an environmental educator, a singer/songwriter, a choreographer, a bookkeeper, a gymnastics coach, a lifeguard, an actor, an Executive Assistant, a Stage Manager, a Production Coordinator and lots more.

Highlights thus far include a season as rep company member at the 4th Line Theatre in Millbrook; directorial/tech contributions to writer/performer Alison Wearing’s award-winning solo show Confessions of a Fairy’s Daughter; Toronto Arts Council grants for Music Creation & Playwriting and the completion of a Drama Specialist AQ, Part 1 at OISE. Catherine was the Assistant Director of Willy Wonka at Howard Jr. Public two years ago and spent a great deal of early 2016 directing and choreographing Howard’s Peter Pan.

Catherine is really looking forward to exploring some of the fundamentals of musical theatre with the 2016/17 ‘Gleeks’ and to supporting these students as they create and perform scenes and songs of their own.
