Bowen Li, piano

Bowen Li was born in Tianjin, China in 1993 and migrated to New Zealand in 1996 before migrating to Sydney, Australia in 2000. He originally began piano studies at the age of 5 and has had a number of teachers since then, the most recent being Professor Margaret Hair, who he studied with from 2008 to 2014.

Bowen has participated in a number of eisteddfods and competitions. He has won various prizes at these events such as winning the Theme and Variations Scholarship at the Ryde Eisteddfod, being a semi-finalist in the 2MBS FM Young Virtuosi Award and a finalist in the Allison/Henderson Scholarship of the Sydney Eisteddfod. In 2008, he was also awarded the Licentiate of Music diploma in piano from theAustralian Music Examination Board. In addition to this, he has also participated as a senior performer in the Kawai Sydney International Piano Master Class Festival and the International Klaviersommer in Cochem, Germany in both 2012 and 2013.

Bowen is currently studying a Performance Diploma/Bachelor of Music majoring in piano performance at the Glenn Gould School of Toronto. He is studying with Professor David Louie and is the recipient of many scholarships.

Bowen is happy to be part of the CMC faculty and looks forward to meeting new students.
